REST and frequently asked questions
REST is the HR system used by the Finnish Red Cross to manage the delegate reserve. REST is an essential tool for Finnish Red Cross disaster risk management work. All members of the Finnish Red Cross delegate reserve have a profile in REST.
Up-to-date information in REST is vital for our operations and programmes. Thus, it is very important that you as a delegate keep your own REST profile up to date at all times, especially if you wish to attend trainings and be deployed.
Your REST profile should include your basic information, contact details, education, work experience, volunteer experience, language skills and IT skills, mandatory e-learning certificates etc. Below you can find more specific instructions on how to update your REST profile.
Should you have any issues accessing or using REST, please read first the Frequently Asked Questions below. In case your issue cannot be solved or you have any other questions on REST, please contact us at the Finnish Red Cross at delegate.learning@redcross.fi.

8. Requests suitable tags in REST
Tags are used by the Finnish Red Cross International HR Unit to manage the delegate reserve. They help us in sending job adverts to specific professional groups, in searching for relevant training candidates, in processing speaker requests etc.
Competence tags describe the diverse professional competencies needed in International Red Cross Operations and Programmes. There are main tags such as DRM (Disaster Management professionals) and specifying sub-tags such as DRM_CLIMATE which refers to “Competencies in/understanding of climate change, climate resilience and/or climate change adaptation, acquired through relevant studies and/or work experience.” When requesting competence tags based on your professional qualifications and competencies, please follow the steps below:
- Please read the description of the tag and consider whether you have relevant professional qualifications and competencies for it.
- If yes, make sure those qualifications and competencies are clearly presented in your REST profile. If not, please update your REST profile to reflect them.
- Then please request the tag and include a concise, specific justification for the tag in the request.
We thank you for keeping your REST profile up-to-date at all times!
Please log into REST, remove the old passport information and update it with your new passport information. Up to date passport information is important especially in quick deployments.
