FRC Aid Worker Reserve Pool Management

Finnish Red Cross (FRC) maintains a multi-professional aid worker reserve that supports its own and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement’s ability to respond to humanitarian needs. The reserve enables quick and efficient response to diverse humanitarian operational needs. The assistance provided by the FRC is based on humanitarian needs and adds value to the local and regional capacities.
FRC aid worker reserve members bring strong expertise in their respective professional fields to international aid work. The aid workers form part of the Movement’s chain of aid, are committed to operating in accordance with the principles, rules and guidelines of the Movement, and work in cooperation with the local, regional and international aid community. The aid workers can be deployed world-wide where necessary. The aid worker reserve is also an important instrument in supporting domestic preparedness and assisting in large-scale emergencies in Finland.
Pool Management
FRC has a pool management system to support emergency operations. This is a developing process and updates will be shared accordingly. The aid worker reserve is divided into technical pools according to the reserve members’ expertise. These pools are further subdivided into smaller technical groups. The purpose of the pools is to facilitatecompetence development, membership engagement and recruitment.
Pool managers are FRC staff members with competencies within their pools’ respective areas of expertise. They are pool focal points for two-way communication and have the responsibility in aligning FRC needs to the technical pool, in cooperation with the International HR. Pool managers define competencies required and skills that need to be developed within the pool based on the current and future needs in the humanitarian sector.
Please find the technical pools and their pool managers here.
Please note that not all aid worker profiles in the reserve are included in these technical pools, due to the sole purpose of the pool management system to support emergency operations.
